Chainsaw recall notice: DR Power battery-powered chainsaws

What the CPSC, Health Canada and the maker say about the June 2025 recall of DR Power 62 volt battery chainsaws: the overheating fault, model numbers, units, reports and the refund route.

Checked against the sources at the bottom of this page on October 9, 2026. Rules, fees and pay change: the source has the last word.

This page sets out what three records say about one recall: the DR Power lithium-ion battery-powered chainsaws recalled in the United States and Canada on June 5, 2025. The records are the CPSC recall record, the Health Canada notice and the maker's recall notices page, which carries the notice as release number 25-323 with a copy of the CPSC text. The wider list is in the guide to chainsaw recalls and safety notices. The notices linked below are the record.

The fault as the notices describe it

All three records give the same fault: the motor controller of the saw can overheat during operation. The CPSC and Health Canada name the result as fire and burn hazards. The CPSC and the maker's copy add a disposal note for the lithium-ion battery, saying the battery is not to go in household trash or in the general recycling stream, and pointing to household hazardous waste collection centers.

Which saws

The saws are lithium-ion battery chainsaws with a black handle and orange buttons and a label printed with "DR Pulse 62V". The model and serial number are on a white label on the right side of the handle. The two agencies list the model numbers differently:

  • CPSC and the maker's copy: 414170, 414181, 41418 and 414170R.
  • Health Canada: 414170 and 414181.

Numbers, dates and reports

United States

  • Recall date: June 5, 2025.
  • Units: "About 7,180 (In addition, about 21 were sold in Canada)".
  • Sold: June 2018 through July 2024, through independent power equipment stores nationwide and online from the maker's site.
  • Reports: 20 reports of fire, sparks or smoke. Injuries reported: none.
  • Place of origin: China. The CPSC names Generac Power Systems Inc. of Waukesha, Wisconsin as the importer.

Canada

  • Original publication: June 5, 2025, as a joint recall with the CPSC.
  • Units: the company reported 21 sold in Canada and 7,171 in the United States.
  • Sold: October 2019 to July 2023. The CPSC gives a longer sales period, so both are shown.
  • Reports: none in Canada as of May 30, 2025. In the United States, 20 reports of fire, sparks or smoke and no reports of injuries.
  • Place of origin: China.

Remedy

The CPSC and Health Canada give one remedy: stop using the saw and contact the maker for a pro-rated refund for the chainsaw tool, based on its age. The record says the refund needs proof that the saw was destroyed, shown by uploading a photograph and filling in the online recall form. The CPSC lists the remedy type as refund. Neither agency states a refund figure.

Where the notices send readers

The maker's DR Power recall notices page lists the notice with a link to a submission form, and its copy of notice 25-323 repeats the CPSC text, including the contact telephone line. The Health Canada notice reminds readers that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits redistributing, selling or giving away recalled products. The same page also lists the maker's two 2023 chipper shredder notices, which have their own page: DR Power chipper shredder recall notices.
