Climbing gear makers' manuals: where six makers publish instructions for use

Makers of climbing hardware, rope tools and spurs each publish instructions for use in their own way. This page links the official page of each maker that was opened and read, with a line on what the maker says the page holds.

Checked against the sources at the bottom of this page on October 9, 2026. Rules, fees and pay change: the source has the last word.

This page reports what the named makers say about their own pages. It does not host, copy or summarise any manual: each link goes to the maker's own site. Makers are listed alphabetically, and a maker appears only where its page was opened and read. A missing maker means its page was not read for this list, not that it publishes nothing.

The instructions are written by each maker for each model. Some pages ask for a product name, a product code or an article number before they show a document. Nothing on this site submits a search or a form. The wider list of saw, chipper and helmet makers is in saw and machine manuals.

Six makers and their document pages

MakerWhat the page holds, as the maker describes itLink
Climbing TechnologyA technical documentation section. The maker says it gives access to user's instructions, CE/EU declarations of conformity and PPE periodical check documents for products on its site, searched by product name, product code or product category.Maker page: CT technical documents
DMMA product markings page. DMM says a QR code on some products gives direct access to the instructions for use, and that users should always refer to the instructions for details of compatible rope types and any extra restrictions.Maker page: DMM markings page
EdelridA downloads page. The maker says instructions for use, declarations of conformity and norms can be downloaded there, found by typing a product name or an article number.Maker page: Edelrid downloads
Notch EquipmentA downloads page. The maker says it holds documents of conformity, user manuals and other documents, listed by product name. The list names rope wrenches, foot ascenders, friction savers, harnesses, carabiners, loop runners and climbers (spurs) among its entries.Maker page: Notch downloads
PetzlA technical information section on each product page. On the ZIGZAG tree care device page it lists the instructions for use, the declarations of conformity and the PPE inspection procedure as separate documents, and says it is essential to read and follow the instructions for use and all Petzl technical information.Maker page: Petzl ZIGZAG page
Singing RockA PPE inspection page whose headings name inspection procedures, PPE lifetime, additional product marking, scannable periodic inspections and recall information. A separate download page lists catalogues, PPE inspection and EU declarations of conformity.Maker page: SR PPE inspection

What the makers say the documents are

Three kinds of document come up on these pages. The first is the instructions for use. DMM describes a book pictogram on its products that marks where the user must read and understand them, and says they cover installation, operation, inspection, maintenance, limitations of use and safety precautions.

The second is the declaration of conformity. Climbing Technology, Edelrid, Notch and Petzl each list declarations of conformity beside the instructions. The third is the PPE inspection document. Climbing Technology and Petzl name it on the same page as the instructions, and Singing Rock gives inspection its own page.

What the list leaves out

No product is recommended, no figures from any manual are repeated, and no use, inspection or retirement steps are given here. The guide on buying new climbing gear and its markings reports what standards bodies and regulators say about the labels and papers that come with new gear.
