Saw and machine manuals: where makers publish their instructions for use

Makers of chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, climbing hardware and helmets each publish their instructions for use in their own way. This page links the official page of each maker that was opened and read, with a line on what the maker says the page holds.

Checked against the sources at the bottom of this page on October 9, 2026. Rules, fees and pay change: the source has the last word.

This page reports what the named makers say about their own pages. It does not host, copy or summarise any manual: each link goes to the maker's own site. Makers are listed alphabetically inside each table, and a maker appears only where its page was opened and read. A missing maker means its page was not read for this list, not that it publishes nothing.

The instructions themselves are written by the makers for each model, and a maker's page can ask for a model number, a product name or a request form before it shows a document. Nothing on this site submits any of those forms. For what regulators and standards bodies say about reading and keeping instructions, see the guides on gear inspection rules and helmets by standard. For the saw makers' declared figures, see saw noise and vibration values.

Chainsaws and pole saws

These four pages are for saw makers. STIHL runs one page for the United Kingdom and one for the United States, and says in each that the document is prepared for its market.

Chippers

Two of these makers, Bandit and Morbark, ask for a form to be filled in and say a manual is sent in reply. GreenMech and Timberwolf publish a manuals page.

Stump grinders

Bandit's request form is the only page read for this list that names a stump grinder. The guide on chippers and stump grinders sets out what regulators and standards say about the machines.

What the list leaves out

Makers whose pages did not open, or showed no manual list or description of one in the page text read, are left out. No parts prices, dealer links or repair advice are given here.
