Injury and health help lines: poison centres, nurse lines and addiction help
Poison centres, nurse advice lines and a treatment referral line, with the number and hours as each owner's own page prints them. Crisis lines are on the mental health page.
Checked against the sources at the bottom of this page on October 9, 2026. Rules, fees and pay change: the source has the last word.
This page lists contact details and says what each organisation says about its own service. It is not medical advice and it does not say which line suits any situation. This page reports what the official source says. It is not legal advice: ask the office named here. Numbers and hours can change, so each row names the page it was read from and the date.
Suicide and crisis lines are not repeated here. They are on mental health and support lines for tree workers.
Poison centres
| Service | Number as printed | What the owner page says |
|---|---|---|
| Poison Control, run by the National Capital Poison Center, United States | 1-800-222-1222 | The home page calls the online tool and the phone line "free, expert, and confidential". It also says to call 911 if a person collapses, has a seizure, has trouble breathing or cannot be awakened. |
| NSW Poisons Information Centre, Australia | 13 11 26 | The page says to call 24/7 on that number and to call Triple Zero (000) for someone who is unconscious or not breathing. The site is a New South Wales Government site. |
| National Poisons Centre, New Zealand | 0800 764 766 | The page calls it a free 24/7 service for all New Zealanders and a poisons information service. |
| Poison centres, Canada | No official page found on October 9, 2026 | The federal page that was tried returned an error and no other official page with a number could be opened, so no number is printed here. |
The US page also shows a list of poison categories with the share of cases each makes up. In that list pesticides are 3.8 percent of cases and plants 3.3 percent. The page does not say these figures come from tree work.
Nurse and advice lines
| Service | Number as printed | What the owner page says |
|---|---|---|
| Healthline, New Zealand | 0800 611 116 | The page calls it a free over-the-phone health service open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with nurses and paramedics giving advice on what to do next. |
| NHS 111, United Kingdom | 111 | The NHS page says it can direct people to the best place to get help when a GP is closed, and that 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. It says to call 999 or go to A&E in an emergency. |
Drug and alcohol treatment referral
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) describes its National Helpline as a free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year referral and information service in English and Spanish. It prints 1-800-662-HELP (4357), with TTY 1-800-487-4889. It says the service refers callers to local treatment facilities and support groups. Drug testing rules at work are on the drug and alcohol testing page.
No official page with a number for a matching service was opened for Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia or New Zealand, so none is listed.
