European Tree Climbing Championship: organiser, entry route, team size and results page

The European regional final of the ISA climbing program: where the 2027 edition is held, how a country sends a team, who counts as a guest climber, and where ISA keeps the score files from 2012 on.

Checked against the sources at the bottom of this page on October 9, 2026. Rules, fees and pay change: the source has the last word.

This page reports what the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) says on the ETCC pages of its ITCC site. The other regional finals and the world final are in the table of championships, and the world final has its own page.

What it is and when it is held

The ETCC is one of four ISA regional finals, with the Asia Pacific, Latin American and North American events. ISA describes it as a chance for working arborists in Europe to show and swap climbing techniques, equipment and safe work practice, and to give the profession public exposure in the region. The winners represent Europe at the annual International Tree Climbing Championship.

The ETCC page lists the 2027 edition for July 9 to 11, 2027, in Riga, Latvia. The page also carries score files for the 2026 edition: all climber scores with rankings, top women's scores and top men's scores with the Masters' Challenge included, and colour coded versions of both.

How a country sends climbers

The competitor information page sets out the 2026 terms. A European country's chapter or associate organisation emails its nominations to ISA with each climber's name, email address and chapter. Nominated climbers are then contacted to register and pay the registration fee.

  • Team size. A country may send a team of up to five competitors, no more than three of them men.
  • Who they represent. A competitor represents an ISA European chapter or associate organisation, and is an ISA member before acceptance.
  • Champions. The current ETCC champions already have a place at the event and do not count as part of their chapter's team.

Guest climbers

Two kinds of guest are named on the page. ISA members in Europe who live where there is no ISA chapter or associate organisation may apply as European guest climbers, if they competed in a nationally recognised event and placed in the top three. Up to five international guests from outside Europe may also be included if their own chapter or associate organisation asks and verifies their performance. International guests cannot enter the Masters' Challenge. Every guest climber registers and pays all entry fees before the event.

Rules that apply

The page says the ETCC follows the most current ITCC rule book. It says the committee does not supply rule books and that competitors are responsible for reading them. The committee keeps the right to add rulings and change any event for the safety of competitors, volunteers and the public. The five preliminary events and the Masters' Challenge are described on the guide to climbing competitions.

Results

ISA's ETCC results page has a section for each year from 2012 to 2019 and from 2022 to 2026, with overall event results and, for some years, ranked men's and women's scores or individual event winners. Those files name people, so this site links to them and does not repeat the names: see the ETCC results page and the ETCC page.
