Georgia Tree Climbing Championships: organiser, entry fees, schedule, waitlist and company award

The 28th Georgia state championship run by the Georgia Arborist Association: the November 2026 schedule, the competitor fee list as the association prints it, how the waitlist and female places work, and the company award rule.

Checked against the sources at the bottom of this page on October 9, 2026. Rules, fees and pay change: the source has the last word.

This page reports what the Georgia Arborist Association (GAA) says on its championship page and its three sign-up pages. The national and regional events are in the table of championships.

Where and when

The GAA page puts the 28th Georgia Tree Climbing Championships on November 6 to 8, 2026, at Violet F. Stout Park, 5420 Stout Pkwy SW, Lithia Springs, the same park as the 2025 event. The page gave no full schedule on October 9, 2026, and gives this outline.

  • Friday, November 6. Gear check and camping set-up, with check-in required by 4 PM. The sign-up page says a climber who misses the Friday 4 PM gear check is not allowed to climb.
  • Saturday, November 7. Qualifying events, then an awards dinner with an after-party.
  • Sunday, November 8. The Masters Challenge.

The page says spectators are free and lists a family fun climb, food trucks and a touch-a-truck. A work day at the park before the event counts toward company award points; the page gave no date for it on October 9, 2026.

Competitor fees as the association lists them

The competitor sign-up page lists eight listings, by sex, residence and membership. Georgia climbers are those whose driver's licence is from Georgia, and every fee includes meals from Friday breakfast to Sunday breakfast, a T-shirt, free camping and a bag. The page says guests can be added for an extra charge.

Waitlist, female places and the company axe

The sign-up page says that if a group's places fill, climbers can join the waitlist because cancellations happen, and that 30 days before the event, if in-state places are not full, out-of-state waitlisters are called, with the first replies taking the open places. A cancelled place cannot be passed to a friend: it goes to the next person on the waitlist. The page also warns that a male climber who registers for a female place is grounds for disqualification.

The page says the rules for the company axe award changed. It goes to the company with the top three ranked competitors, and that company must be a GAA member in good standing and have completed at least 10 hours of volunteer work related to the championship in the same calendar year. The hours can be done by any member or representative of the company, on the work day or during the event, in a judge, technical or non-technical role.

Volunteers, camping and results

The volunteer page offers a technical role, for judges and in-ring technicians, and a non-technical role such as set-up, registration, score running and parking. It says technical volunteers work in the competition ring for at least one full day and that people without experience are given a less technical position. Free camping is available at the park, with no open fires, because the park is public. This page found no results page for the championship on the GAA site, so no results link is given. See the GAA championship page for the current outline.
