Climbing gear recall notice: LoGest hemp climbing ropes

What the CPSC, Health Canada and the importer say about the February 2025 recall of LoGest hemp climbing ropes sold on Amazon: the break fault, lengths, units, reports and the refund route.

Checked against the sources at the bottom of this page on October 9, 2026. Rules, fees and pay change: the source has the last word.

This page sets out what three records say about one recall: the LoGest hemp climbing ropes sold through Amazon, recalled in the United States on February 13, 2025 and published by Health Canada on February 19, 2025. The records are the CPSC recall record, the Health Canada notice and the importer's recall registration site. The wider list is in the guide to climbing gear recalls and safety notices. The notices linked below are the record.

The fault as the notices describe it

All three records give the same fault: the climbing ropes can weaken and break, which is a fall hazard. The CPSC record words it as a fall hazard to consumers.

Which ropes

The records describe two products, both made of hemp, with "LoGest" written in large white text on the black plastic on the rope ends:

  • The LoGest climbing rope with carabiner has a silver D-ring and a silver climbing carabiner attached.
  • The LoGest climbing rope with heavy-duty metal hook has a blue stripe through the brown hemp and a black metal hook at one end, held by two silver bolts and nuts.

The CPSC record and the importer's site give the lengths as 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 50 feet. The Health Canada notice names lengths of 10 to 30 feet. The Health Canada notice lists an Amazon item number (ASIN) for each rope and length. None of the records uses batch or serial numbers.

Numbers, dates and reports

  • Units: "About 22,500 (In addition, about 350 were sold in Canada and about 25 were sold in Mexico)".
  • Sold: online on Amazon from March 2021 through November 2024.
  • Reports: 13 reports of the ropes breaking, including one report of a fall that resulted in injury.
  • Place of origin: China. The CPSC names Setsmart LLC of Brooklyn, New York as the importer.

Canada

  • Original publication: February 19, 2025.
  • Units: 370 sold in Canada on Amazon.ca, from March 2021 to November 2024.
  • Reports: none in Canada as of February 11, 2025. In the United States, 13 reports of ropes breaking, including one fall with injury.

Remedy

The CPSC, Health Canada and the importer's site give one route: stop using the rope, uninstall it, and register for a full refund on the importer's recall site. The registrant receives a form to sign as part of disposing of the rope, then follows the disposal directions on the form and emails a photo of the disposed rope. Refunds go through Amazon to the original form of payment, and Amazon contacts known purchasers directly. The importer's site adds that the rope has to be uninstalled and kept until every step is complete, and that refunds are only given to people who still hold the recalled rope. The CPSC lists the remedy type as refund. The importer's site is the LoGest climbing rope safety recall site.
