Climbing gear recall notice: Petzl SIMBA and SWAN EASYFIT harnesses, 2026
What the CPSC, Health Canada and the maker say about the May 2026 recall of Petzl SIMBA and SWAN EASYFIT harnesses: the missing rivet, serial numbers, units, reports and the maker's inspection steps.
Checked against the sources at the bottom of this page on October 9, 2026. Rules, fees and pay change: the source has the last word.
This page sets out what three records say about one recall: the Petzl SIMBA CLIMBING, SIMBA PARK, SWAN EASYFIT STEEL and SWAN EASYFIT STAINLESS harnesses, recalled in the United States and Canada on May 14, 2026. The records are the CPSC recall record, the Health Canada notice and the maker's call for visual inspection of March 2, 2026. A separate 2025 recall of the SWAN EASYFIT models concerned a different part and has its own page: Petzl SWAN EASYFIT harness recall of 2025. The wider list is in the guide to climbing gear recalls and safety notices.
The fault as the notices describe it
All three records give the same fault: a rivet is missing from the FAST LT PIN-LOCK buckle at the back of the harness. The CPSC says the missing rivets cause the buckles to open. Health Canada says a missing rivet could cause the buckle to open. Both name the result as a fall hazard with a risk of serious injury or death. The maker's page says the problem was found on one harness.
Which harnesses
The CPSC says the harnesses were sold singly and in packs of five, in gray and orange. The serial number is printed on a plastic card inside the harness. The CPSC and Health Canada list the same numbers.
| Product as the notice names it | Single | Pack of five |
|---|---|---|
| SIMBA CLIMBING | C065BA00 | C065BA01 |
| SIMBA PARK | C065AA00 | C065AA01 |
| SWAN EASYFIT STEEL | C062AA00 | C062AA01 |
| SWAN EASYFIT STAINLESS | C062BA00 | C062BA01 |
The notices describe the SIMBA models as children's harnesses for people between 110 and 160 cm tall, and the SWAN EASYFIT models as full-body harnesses for adventure parks. The maker's page says the SWAN FREEFALL STEEL and STAINLESS harnesses are not affected, and that harnesses sold after January 2026, with a serial number after 26A 0000000 000, are not affected.

Remedy and the maker's inspection steps
The CPSC and Health Canada give a free replacement harness. The CPSC record asks both users and operators to stop using and selling the harnesses. The maker's page of March 2, 2026 is worded as a visual inspection: check that both the upper and the lower rivet are present on the buckle. With two rivets the buckle is described as conforming and the harness may go back into use or sale. With only one rivet the page says to stop use and sales, quarantine the harness and contact the maker's after-sales service for a free replacement. The page also says this fault is unrelated to the 2025 recall of SWAN EASYFIT harnesses over a non-conforming buckle. The maker's page is the Petzl call for visual inspection of SIMBA and SWAN EASYFIT harnesses.
